Budget Friendly Valentines Day Gift Guide

Valentine’s Day is only a few days away, and chances are you’ve been thinking about what to do for your hubby or wife to celebrate.  Or, at least, you are now. Whether this day is important to you or not, it’s a great opportunity to do something special for the person you love. In my opinion, you don’t need to plan some over-the-top grand gesture to prove your love.  I think that it’s much more important to do something simple, yet meaningful, to show someone how special they are to you.

Budget Friendly Valentines Day Gift Guide

So how do you decide what simple, yet meaningful gift is perfect for your other half?  Fear not! I’m here to help with exactly that. I’ve got some wonderful, budget friendly gift ideas that require a little planning, and minimal money – a few are even free!  You’re welcome.

Why this list carries meaning

I didn’t put this list together randomly.  There was thought and planning behind it, so I’ve done the hard work for you.  Again, you’re welcome. So then how exactly did I come up with this list? Let me explain.

Have you ever heard of the five love languages? It’s a book written by Gary Chapman back in the early 90’s.  If you’re not familiar, the book categorizes the five ways people express and experience love in their relationships. There is a quiz you can take to discover your love language, and also to figure out the love language of your significant other. Here is the link to the quiz if you’re interested in taking it: https://www.5lovelanguages.com/quizzes/.

The five love languages broken down in the book are words of affirmation, physical touch, acts of service, gifts, and quality time. You may not even need to take the assessment. You may be able to guess which one is your love language, and what is the love language of your hubby or wife just by seeing the categories. This can be a really powerful thing to know, and will ultimately help you to express your love to your partner in the way that resonates with them the most.

With that in mind, I’ve created a list of gifts, along with their corresponding love language, that will have a huge impact for your significant other at little or even no cost. Read on for some great ideas for a memorable valentines gift.

Here is your budget friendly Valentine’s Day Gift Guide:

  1. Make them a video (Gifts) – You can easily use iMovie or another free video editing app to create a simple video by using the photos already on your phone. My hubby and I do this for each other for Mother’s/Father’s Day. I cry every time I get one. What can I say? Photos of my kids and a little music do that to me!
  2. Surprise them with lunch (Quality Time) – Show up at their place of work with lunch from their favorite place, and put away the phones for the hour. They will gladly welcome the break and you’ll get to enjoy some undivided time together in the middle of the day.
  3. Write them a letter (Words of Affirmation) – Buy a card or some stationary and write a heartfelt, handwritten letter inside to them about how much they mean to you.  It’s one thing to say “I love you,” but it’s another to really point out all of your favorite things about the other person.
  4. Take care of their chores for the day (Acts of Service) – This gift is like hitting the lottery for people whose love language is acts of service. To them, nothing says how much you care more than coming home to find all of your responsibilities for the day (laundry, cooking, cleaning) have already been taken care of.
  5. Give them a massage (Physical touch) – Invite your other half to relax while you rub their feet, or give them a back massage. At the end of a long day or week, this will be a welcomed gift!

You see, it doesn’t require spending a ton of money or weeks of planning the perfect gift. You just need to show the special person in your life how much they mean to you.  By this budget friendly Valentine’s Day Gift Guide I’ve created with the love languages in mind, you’ll be sure to make a huge impact this holiday.
