Moms are Superheros

Mama, there’s something you need to know.  Maybe you don’t realize it, or maybe you felt it long ago and just forgot.  Either way, I’m here to remind you of one thing:

You’re a superhero.

I know it, because I’m a mom, and I know how hard I work every day to take care of these little humans I made.   Just think back to all of the things that your mom did for you growing up.  Incredible, right??

I saw something recently that said, “Anything you can do, mamas can do with one hand and no sleep,” and it couldn’t be more true.  Moms are amazing.

I know there are times when you feel like you’re failing.  Like nothing you do is good enough, or you just can’t seem to get it right.  Whenever you feel like that, I want you to stop and think of something that you’ve done or that has happened recently that you’re proud of.  It could be as simple as your little one walking up to you and giving you a kiss all on their own.  I bet you won’t have to think long at all to find proof that you’re killin’ it.

My Reminder

The other day, Kya (my 4 year old) asked me to fly her around the house in a laundry basket.  Now, she’s heavy enough when I’m just carrying her, let alone carrying her in a laundry basket while running around the house.  She said, “I want to fly, mom.  Can you fly me?”  I asked, “You want me to fly you?  How strong do you think I am?”  Without hesitation, she looked at me and said

“You’re a superhero, mom.  You can do anything.”

I just smiled back at her, and thought to myself, “Dang, girl, you’re right.”

A Reminder for You

Whenever you doubt your abilities as a mother, think about all of the things you’ve done in the past that you didn’t think were possible.  As moms, we somehow ALWAYS figure it out.  It’s our superpower.  We don’t have time for excuses, we just GET SHIT DONE.  We’re superheros.

I know you can’t stop thinking about yesterday when you yelled at your kids, then felt bad about it immediately after.  But you know what, your kids didn’t wake up mad at you, did they?  They’re not holding onto the little mistakes and slip-ups we make the way we do.  They still love you, and they will always see the best in you, because you’re their superhero.

Remember, mama – You are amazing.  You can do anything.  You are a superhero.
