Avocado & Jalapeño Pizza

Who doesn’t love pizza? Honestly, I have yet to find someone to admit to that. There are just so many ways to enjoy pizza, that it’s hard to imagine that someone out there can’t find a combo they love. Pizza is great any time of the day, and this Avocado & Jalapeño Pizza is the perfect brunch treat!

This recipe is my version of a pizza I had at Mash’d. It’s part of their brunch menu, and you can add an egg to it if you choose…um, excuse me? Yes, please. This Avocado & Jalapeño Pizza has all the elements of a perfect pizza. Melty cheese, chewy crust, and that classic garlic flavor. However, this one is topped with lots of green goodness, and a little spice.

Ingredients:
avocado and jalapeno pizza
  • 8 oz prepared pizza dough
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbs cilantro leaves
  • 3 Tbs olive oil
  • 2 tsp chopped garlic (or garlic paste)
  • Salt & pepper
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 425.
  2. Prepare oven safe skillet by pouring in 1 Tbs olive oil and coating entire pan. Lightly sprinkle 1-2 tsp flour (or cornmeal if you have) to help avoid the dough from sticking.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together 2 Tbs olive oil and 2 tsp garlic.
  4. Press the pizza dough into the pan. Brush with garlic mixture & season with salt & pepper. Pierce the surface of the dough with a fork to help it from bubbling up while cooking.
  5. Cook pizza dough for half the amount of time suggested on the package.
  6. Remove from oven. Top completely with cheese, then add the jalapeños. Return to oven to finish cooking.
  7. After removing from the oven, cut into slices for serving and add several slices of avocado to each slice, and top with cilantro.
